Our Karatekas Justify Lev Ins’s Support by Winning 11 Medals

The athletes from the Bulgarian National Karate Federation won 11 medals at the prestigious Croatia Open Tournament. The 14th edition of the tournament was held on October 4 and 5 in Rijeka, Croatia and welcomed over 1200 competitors from various clubs competing under the auspices of 21 national federations. The competition was part of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation’s calendar of events providing berths for the first European Olympic Games to be held in Baku in 2015. ZK Lev Ins AD is the main sponsor of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation and has been actively supporting Bulgarian karatekas since 2006.
The Bulgarian National Karate Federation was represented by the following clubs: Wadō-ryū, Levski Spartak, and Samurai. Competition was fierce, but Penio Penev, Radoslav Hristov, and Petar Evtimov representing Samurai Karate Club took the gold medals in the Kata team competition in the U18 bracket. Silvia Vangelova representing Wadō-ryū took the gold medal in the Women U21 bracket in the 55-kilogram weight class and added to it a silver medal from the women’s competition in the 55-kilogram weight class. Other silver medalists include Borislava Ganeva from Levski Spartak Karate Club who finished second in the women’s over 68 kg weight class; Georgi Braikov from Samurai Karate Club who was runner-up in the U18, 70-kilogram weight class competition. Our bronze medalists include Vasil Rivov representing Wadō-ryū Karate Club in the U18 52-kilogram weight class and Petar Evtimov from Samurai Karate Club in the U18 52-kilogram weight class.
The youngest karatekas of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation also had success – a gold medal in for Tulchan Mehmed from Samurai Karate Club in the Kata competition in the 8 to 9 age group along with a bronze medal in Kumite in the 26-kilogram weight class; a gold medal for Alex Alexiev from Samurai Karate Club in the Kata competition in the 10 to 11 age group, and a bronze medal for Simeon Mladenov in the 26-kilogram class of the 8 to 9 age group.
The leadership of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation congratulated the competitors and their coaches Angel Stefanov, Georgy Rivov, and Dimitar Hristov for yet another strong performance by Team Bulgaria.
